Police Draw Rifles, Descend Upon Quiet Street for Call

Area cops with AR-15 rifles poured into Ivyland Tuesday afternoon for reports of an armed subject. The incident turned out to be a strange misunderstanding.

Police cars zoomed to Brewster Drive in Ivyland and officers with service weapons and AR-15 patrol rifles drawn filed onto the residential street after reports of an armed subject Tuesday afternoon.

No arrests were made and, according to Ivyland police Chief Nicholas Rosato, the whole situation was the result of “misinformation.”

Police received reports of a subject with a gun on Brewster Drive near the Bucks County Emergency Services building in the early afternoon hours. The person with a gun was reported by dispatched to be involved with a domestic dispute, Rosato said.

“Warminster asked if I wanted help - I said yes,” the borough’s lone weekday patrolman and chief said.

Rosato was backed up by officers from Warminster arrived to a residence and discovered no problems. The homeowners even invited him in for coffee, he said with chuckle.

Further investigation revealed a separated husband and wife were in the process of moving their belongings out of a house several doors down, the chief said. Officers made contact with estranged couple and found there was no gun and no problem.

The response from area police and sheriff deputies was out of an abundance of caution, Rosato said. Confirming eyewitness accounts, Rosato reported that armed officers went through the quiet neighborhood with weapons drawn until the situation was sorted out.

“This is going to be one for the Ivyland history books,” said Rosato in a jovial tone.

While Warminster and other suburban police may not deal with what Philly cops do on a daily basis they are real police officers. I have dealt with police in Philly as well as several areas in Bucks and Montgomery County. Some are good, others are jerks...no matter where they are

Dinosaur on the right!

I think the bigger story is that apparently Jurassic Park exists in Warminster. I wouldn't be as calm as those police are in the photo with that dinosaur roaming around to the right.
