Robber Punched Dunkin Donuts Clerk, Police Say

Upper Southampton Police arrested a Philadelphia man following a call for a robbery in progress Sunday morning at the store on Second Street Pike.

Police said they arrested a man after answering a robbery in progress call at the Dunkin Donuts on Second Street Pike early Sunday morning.

Roby Roy Thomas, 21, of Philadelphia, was charged with robbery, receiving stolen property and assault after police say he pummeled a store clerk and stole cash from the register.

According to police, Thomas entered the store close to 2:30 a.m. Sunday, walked around the counter and began punching the clerk in the head while demanding money.

The clerk told police he was able to break free, run outside and call 911.

Police said Thomas then cleaned out the cash register, making away with about $250.

According to the arrest affidavit, Thomas was apprehended in the parking lot on Second Street Pike immediately following the incident.

Thomas was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple Sunday. He was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 2 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge William Benz in Richboro.
