Southampton Teen in Critical Condition Following Street Road Accident

As of 4 p.m. Friday, officials from the public relations office at Abington Memorial Hospital have confirmed that Richard Walton, 19, of Southampton is in critical condition at the hospital.

Upper Southampton Police issued a statement this afternoon, saying that Walton was struck as he was riding his skateboard in the center turn lane near the intersection of Street and Cushmore Roads around 9:40 p.m Thursday.

Police identified the driver of the car that hit Walton as 79-year-old Anna O’Riordan of Warminster.

According to the police, O’Riordan was traveling west on Street Road when she attempted to make a left turn near Cushmore Road.  Police said it was in the center turn lane that O’Riordan’s 2006 Toyota Prius collided with Walton, knocking him to the ground and rendering him unconscious.

Members of the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad attended to Walton at the scene and transported him to AMH.

Along with the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, members of the Lower Southampton Township and Northampton Township Police departments also provided assistance at the scene of the accident.

No word on whether charges will be filed at this time.
