Southampton Struck by Irene

Upper Southampton was not spared by the wrath of .

The Southampton Fire Company had to assist several motorist and homeowners who became stranded in their homes during the storm.

Police were forced to closed Street Road for more than eight hours due to flood near the intersection of Second Street Pike.

Flash flooding was reported on Maple Avenue and Davisville Road in the township. One resident told Patch, the water rushed in quickly and filled the road. Paige Copper, who lives on Maple Avenue reported, kids in the streets playing in the flood waters.

Numerous power outages were also reported around the township. As of noon on Sunday resident's on Belmont Avenue remain without power.

Buckstone Drive in the township had several downed trees and neighbors were out in force Sunday clearing the downed branches.

A tree brought down power lines and blocked Bristol Road, near Churchville Road, on the Upper Southampton/Northampton border Sunday morning.
