Woman Hospitalized After Being Struck By Car

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A woman who was struck by a car on Street Road between Knowles Avenue and Second Street Pike near the remains in the hospital, authorities confirm.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a green car, told police they honked the horn when they spotted the woman in the roadway, but she did not move and was struck, police Chief Ron MacPherson said.

The victim was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital by the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad; her condition is not being released at this time.

Early reports indicated the striking vehicle fled, but MacPherson said the driver of the striking vehicle pulled into the nearby BP gas station and waited for police.

The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. during the morning rush and caused traffic slow as police closed two lanes of Street Road.

The chief added the investigation into the accident continues and more information would be available this afternoon.
