Mill Creek Bridge Rehabilitation Underway

PennDOT has begun work on a multi-million dollar bridge project in our area; detours and delays are expected.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has begun rehabilitation of the Mill Creek Bridge.

Until mid-September, Bristol Road will be closed and detoured between Chinquapin Road and Route 532 (Buck Road) in Lower Southampton Township.

During construction, Bristol Road through traffic will be detoured over
Route 532 (Buck Road) and Bustleton Pike.  Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Crews will improve the 48-year old bridge by replacing the pre-stressed concrete adjacent box beams and bearing pads, constructing high-performance concrete bridge deck and parapets, milling and paving the roadway approaches, repairing the substructure and installing scour protection.

The one-span bridge is 61 feet and 33 feet wide.  It has two 10-foot travel lanes and two 5-foot shoulders.  According to PennDOT, approximately 5,000 cars travel over the bridge per day.

The project is part of a $7,754,000 contract that also includes the
rehabilitation of three additional state bridges in Bucks County and one in Montgomery County.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
