Steeple View Plans Get Nod from Planning Commission

Planning Commission chairman Mark Craig is expected to discuss the plans at Wednesday's Borough Council meeting.

The Newtown Borough Planning Commission on Monday approved plans for Steeple View, a mixed-use project at South State and Penn streets.

The project features a three-story, mixed-use building that will feature the state wine and spirits store on the ground level and residential units above.

Planning Commission chairman Mark Craig is expected to discuss the plans at Wednesday's Borough Council meeting.

According to the Newtown Advance, the final plans were approved with several conditions. Click here to view the article and learn more about the conditions.

Developer Allan Smith, who owns the current state store property on Centre Avenue, is seeking to relocate the store to a building on South State Street.

According to officials, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, which leases the space from Smith, is pushing to update its stores so they are larger and more customer-friendly. Smith said a lease has been signed for the new State Store and has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
