Weather Service Calls for High Winds

Hold on to your hats! It may have been warm today, but the National Weather Service expects the winds to pick up tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for Southampton and surrounding areas in effect from late tonight through Saturday evening.

The watch is calling for possible gusty to locally damaging winds.

Numerous tree limbs will be knocked down along with weaker trees and power lines, according to the Weather Service. Power outages and difficult driving conditions are possible.

Sustained northwest winds from 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

The highest winds are expected to occur between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on tomorrow.

Here's the NWS detailed forcast:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West wind between 10 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Windy, with a west wind between 23 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23. Blustery, with a north wind between 17 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph.

Sunday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 44. Northwest wind between 7 and 14 mph.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind at 5 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
