Will Friday the 13th be Lucky For PA Hunters?

86 hunters across the state will win elk licenses this Friday.

Story by Tom Coombe

This Friday is Friday the 13th, and—all superstitions aside—it’s going to be a lucky one for 86 Pennsylvania hunters.

That’s because it’s the day the state Game Commission will issue its elk licenses for 2013 during a drawing at its headquarters in Harrisburg.

It’s a pretty exclusive club to get into.  Each year, the commission gets tens of thousands of people apply for an elk license, but only issues a relative handful. The commission says the upside for those who aren’t chosen is that every time you enter, you get a preference point for the following year’s drawing.

If you’ve applied, but can’t make it to Harrisburg, you can watch the drawing live on the Game Commission’s website, www.pgc.state.pa.us.
