Archdiocese: High Schools to Close Until Strike Resolved
Students will not report to school Wednesday, Sept. 14
High schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will not open starting Wednesday due to the ongoing teachers strike.
"We are not able to bring the entire school population back into the building with reduced staffs since this would compromise the safety of the school and our students," stated a press release from the Archdiocese to parents. "There has been some progress in the negotiations over these past few days so we are hopeful for the future."
Teachers have been walking the picket lines for a week as the negotiations for the latest contract continue. Students have been reporting to school despite the faculty absence.
