High School Presents 'Smokey Joe's Cafe'

The fast-paced show focuses on early rock-and-roll.

performances of "Smokey Joe's Cafe," a musical revue, began Thursday evening and continue through the weekend. 

The show is filled with over 30 early rock-and-roll tunes written by the famed Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. "Hound Dog," "Stand By Me," "Keep on Rollin' " and "Poison Ivy" are some of the many tunes performed by the cast.

Performers have been rehearsing the show since February, director and music teacher Tyrone Dinkins said.

The show will be performed Friday, March 29, and Saturday March 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
