Thats a joke all those steps up a hill to a future playground. It will take them all of recess to go up and back down to lunch. Must of been men who thought of this bright idea

I agree about that hill. I can't imagine that is safe.

You both know there is a (what seemed to be huge as a kid) hill to get to the playground and soccer fields at Stackpole, right? Kids have been climbing that hill to play at recess for years.

I was also intrigued by the accessible ramp all the way up. I hope my kids' classmates who need it will be able to join them. The school does look really great!

Why in the world do people have to be so negative? I agree with Lizz. It is much safer to go up a set of stairs than to try and walk up a grass hill. This could be considered exercise.... Something that the kids need. They need a little discipline. Walk down the stairs, don't run... Etc. it is. Good thing! I'm sure that the landscapers and designers had water management issues that they were trying to deal with etc. the school is beautiful and thank you to all of the people that made it happen! I know that my son is so excited to be going to the new school even though he will miss Stackpole. It would be a great thing if people stopped to think about the positive things that are happening and the good that will come from it rather than constantly picking out the flaws and downfalls. Please stop being so negative! Your lives might be more enjoyable if you were a little more positive.

You are not getting a full picture of the hill. There are 40 steps the children will have to walk everyday, twice a day. That might not be such a big deal to some, but what about the lunch monitors/recess aides. That is a lot of steps!! To the right of the steps is a steep hill. Much steeper than at Stackpole. A hill that a child who is crazy enough to try going down, will be seriously hurt. What about the children with asthma, who get out of breathe, are they not entitled to go out and have fun at recess? Davis' grounds use to be flat until the board & construction company ruined it. Don't get me wrong, it's great that the children have a brand new school, but when you spend millions of dollars on it, it should be better. Did you check out the pictures for the library? The shelves look like they are for preschoolers. Don't they know that this is a school for kids K-5. Do you really think the parents like to be so negative? This answer is no!! The last 2 1/2 years have been nothing but an upheaval of our lives. We expected it to be a smooth transition into the new school, but it has been nothing but an uphill battle with the school district & the other parents. Oh yeah, that ramp is great, but by the time the children get up it, they will have about 10 mins of play & will have to start going back down it. Maybe you should take a walk around the grounds before you comment. A picture from a camera doesn't show the whole picture of what it really looks like.

I will be honest and say that is NOTHING like I pictured it! It is definitely a modern and clean design. These children are very fortunate to have such a great new environment. I hope you'll share more interior shots as the year goes on and the kids begin to decorate the place :)

Davis mom.... Really? I live in the neighborhood and have seen the hill. It is not that bad. If your child has a breathing problem they know how to handle it by this point in their life. There are moderators there to handle any problems and that is what they are getting paid for! Why on earth would you want to make things easier and easier for these kids. They need to get out and move. It is not the kids that complain it is the parents! Kids are able to run up and down these without a problem. They need to get out and move! When I was in school we had an asphalt parking lot to play in! No grass, no trees. It was hot and when you fell you got hurt! It did not stop us from playing. Neither will these steps for our kids. As far as the moderators.......all of the one's that were at Stackpole were in good shape and would not have a problem with these stairs. It might even do them some good. The library.... You can add shelves if you need to. I'm sure that they have that covered! Maybe their reasoning was to have light in the library? They have heir reasoning. Stop the bitching, really!!!!!!

So much negativity. I am really sick of it. Some of you people should just stop it. It is what it is. A new state of the art school. All your negativity is no good for anybody. It's easy to be negative when things are not going the way you want them. Change is something everybody has to go through all throughout our lives. You should dwell on the good things that a new school brings. Children now a days can adjust to anything that comes there way but you who constantly see the negative and not the possitive does not make any adjustments for your children easy. Dwelling on the negativity only hurts your children. Your children follow your lead and become very negative themselves. Lets all start being more positive. All the bitching does no good for anybody. You have a new school with so many positive things about it, enjoy it.

Since so many people were commenting on the hill behind the school, I decided to feature it in today's "Photo(s) of the Day." You can take a better look at the hill and the stairs/ramp here: http://uppersouthampton.patch.com/articles/photo-s-of-the-day-august-24

I think that it's great that the kids will now be going to a brand new state of the art school. But I still think that they made a mistake when they chose to cut corners and created this huge hill. The dirt should have been taken away. That's a legitimate complaint. They took land that was almost level and turned it into a mountain. I don't know how much ground there is before you get to the hill. Will they be able to hold the Annual Davis Picnic on the level land behind the building? Or the Halloween parade? Or will Grandparents be forced to climb up that hill if they want to participate?

Have you seen all the water and poor drainage in the back of the building? It's a disgrace. Mosquitos flying and hanging around stagmant water that smells right next to the black top where all the kids must play. Balls go in the water kids and monitors try to get them. God forbid anyone has a cut or gets MERSA. Disgrace. The township and School board should be ashamed of themselves. These parents need to see out back what their children have to put up with.
