Three-peat for Pollock as School Board President

An executive cabinet was named and five board members, three new and two returning, were sworn in during the Centennial School Board of Directors annual reorganization meeting Monday evening.

Region Two Representative Andrew Pollock was once again named president of the Centennial School Board of Directors during the board's annual

Pollock, who has held the board's chief executive cabinet position since 2010, was narrowly re-elected to the post in a 5-4 vote.

Besides a vote from himself, Pollock received the support of long-time Board Members Betty Huf and Jane Schrader-Lynch as well as votes from freshman Board Members Steven Adams and Charles Kleinschmidt. The remaining four members of the board voted in favor of Region Three Representative Michael Hartline taking over as board president.

Betty Huf, who also represents region two on the school board, was elected to serve alongside Pollock as school board vice president for the 2012 calendar year.

Region One Representative Mark Miller also nominated for the position of vice president, but only received four votes to Huf's five. Miller, along with his own vote, received the support of board members Michael Hartline, Kati Driban and the newly-elected David Shafter .

Region Three Representative Kati Driban was unamiously elected to serve as the board's assistant secretary. Driban was the only board member nominated for the position.

This is the third year in a row that the top two executive posts on the school board will be held exclusively by members of Warminster Township.

This decision seems to run in direct opposition to board policy, which states: "The President and Vice President shall be, if possible, from different townships."

This year is especially unique in that not only will the top two posts be held by members of the same township, they will held by members of the same region, region two.

Also at Monday's meeting, the three outgoing members of Centennial's School Board of Directors, Cyndi Mueller, Thomas Reinboth and Thomas Hezel, were honored for their years of service.

Mueller, who represented Southampton's region one for the past eight years, offered some advice to the board's incoming members.

"Just do your work. If you do your homework, you will do fine," she said.

The next meeting of the Centennial School Board of Directors will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13.
