William Tennent to Host Grand Opening Today

Centennial School District will celebrate the grand opening and building dedication for the new William Tennent High School.

will open its doors to the Centennial School District community for a grand opening celebration.

From 3:30 - 9:30 p.m., students, parents, teachers, town officials and other community members will gather for an .

Every fifteen minutes between 3:30 and 6:45 p.m., current students of the high school will lead tours throughout the new building. Those interested in taking a look around should meet at the main entrance to the school (in the rear), next to the courtyard.

The formal dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the same courtyard. The public is invited to attend, and no reservations are necessary to participate.

In addition, inflatable games—Human Foosball, Bouncing Pony Races, Wrecking Ball, Hole-in-One and Touchdown Toss—will be available for enjoyment for all ages. (Download coupons for elementary and middle school students in the PDF section in the upper, right portion of this article.)

Stop by the new fitness room and test your skills on some fitness challenges. Or visit a health screening booth to determine your BMI, check your blood pressure or learn more about your target heart rate.

Then at 6:10, the William Tennent Marching Band and cheerleaders will process into the stadium to jump start the evening's football game against Upper Merion. If you want to join in the parade, meet the crew at the auditorium, or join in as the parade passes by. Then the band's pregame show starts at 6:40 p.m. in the Alumni Stadium, with kick off for the game slated for 7 p.m.

Commemorative dedication T-shirts are available for purchase during the grand opening, and if you buy one and wear it to the football game, you'll get free admission.

Parking is going to be limited at the school in the side parking lot, but a complementary shuttle bus service will run from 3:45 to 9:30 p.m. at McDonald-Davis Elementary School. For more information about the events or for a full list of activities visit the school's website.
