Cheap Trips: The Radnor Trail, Dinosaurs in Reading

Three local attractions you can visit on one tank of gas.

Looking to save money and get away? Try one of these trips you can enjoy on just one tank of gas: The Radnor Trail in Wayne, Dinosaurs at the Reading Public Museum and Historic Fallsington in Levittown.

The Radnor Trail

Summary: The Radnor Trail is a 2.4 mile-long fitness and walking trail. Bike riding and dog walking are permitted. There is an entrance to the Wayne Art Center from the trail, and there are also numerous historical signs along the trail to commemorate Philadelphia and Western Railway stations that once operated there.

Dinosaurs at the Reading Public Museum

Address: 500 Museum Road, Reading


Admission: 

  • $8 adults (ages 18-64)
  • $5 children/students with ID/seniors
  • Free for children 3 and younger

Hours:

  • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday (open Mondays now through Labor Day only)
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday

About: Due to the overwhelming popularity of the current exhibition, Dinosaurs: T-Rex Face-to-Face, the Reading Public Museum will be open 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Mondays throughout the month of August and on Labor Day, September 3, in addition to its regular schedule.

The exhibit features life-like, cutting-edge animatronic versions of dinosaurs — each outfitted with cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence — which react to your every mood. Travel back in time 67 million years to explore the world of the cretaceous period when the infamous T-Rex roamed the earth.

This exhibition also features a "Dinosaur Dig" for children, a special display of fossils and other specimens from its own collection, as well as a historical timeline.

Historic Fallsington

Address: 4 Yardley Avenue, Levittown

Distance from Southampton: 16 miles (approximately 25 minutes)
Hours:
 Mid-May through mid-October, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Description: Historic Fallsington is a historic village in Levittown that recaptures the lifestyle, spirit, and sense of community that filled Levittown over 200 years ago. The village has been educating and entertaining guests for over 50 years.
