Clearing the Tracks for Preservation

A local group has a vision for the Reading Company's Newtown-Fox Chase Line.

The Newtown Branch Preservation Foundation held a member meeting Saturday afternoon at Maggios.

The foundation is a new volunteer organization that is seeking to actively preserve SEPTA’s Fox Chase-Newtown line.

The group’s initial goals are to clear the line of overgrowth and debris, assess the condition of the railroad, and develop a plan to someday operate a scenic rail line between Southampton Station and Tamanend Park.
