International Coastal Clean-Up Day Takes Over Southampton

On Saturday, Sept. 17, Tamanend Park and the Churchville Nature Center join efforts for a belated Earth Day clean-up.

and the will both host separate clean-up events as part of the 26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup.

Starting at 10 a.m. through 1 p.m., the community is invited to join the Friends of Tamanend and the Park and Recreation department to .

Volunteers can also near the Churchville Nature Center. All of the debris collected will be weighed, and information will be sent to the Pennsylvania Clean Ways Committee, which will then add the information to the International Coastal Clean-Up data.

Be sure to wear long sleeves, pants and sneakers so you're prepared for the day's activities. Gloves and trashbags will be provided, so all you need to do is bring yourself with a few hours to spare to give back to the community.

These volunteer events are a perfect way to collect community service hours needed to fulfill requirements for school or scouts.
