Patch Gives Back

Patch editors and ad directors participated in a day of community service by helping local charity Re-Use Your Shoes.

Being a part of a community also means giving back. Did you know that all Patch employees spend five working days each year volunteering in the communities Patch serves?

It's called Give 5 day, and it's an important part of Patch's philosophy of both covering and serving the community.

On Thursday, February 17, the editors and contributors to several Patch sites in Bucks County joined other volunteers at the Warwick fire house to volunteer for Re-Use Your Shoes.

They sorted mountains of donated shoes by size and gender, then bagged them to be delivered and donated to local organizations in need.

You might have heard of Re-Use Your Shoes, , of Warwick, to collect both gently used and downright ratty shoes. The keepers are given to local nonprofits like A Woman's Place, Libertae, and Laurel House.

The rejects are sent to be ground up and recycled into playground surfaces.

We'll be having another Give 5 Day next quarter. Do you have a nonprofit project that could use a few hours of free labor? Email us and let us know. We'd love to come be a part of the good you're doing.
