Pinwheel Gardens Sprout Up in Effort to Prevent Child Abuse

Local volunteers with the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center have "planted" pinwheel gardens to raise awareness of child abuse during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

If you've noticed an abundance of pinwheels around Bucks County recently, there's a reason.

Local volunteers with the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center have "planted" pinwheel gardens to raise awareness of child abuse during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign will remain in place until the end of April. 

Pinwheel gardens have been installed at three sites Bucks County, including Bensalem, Warminster and Quakertown. The pinwheel gardens are sponsored by local organizations and businesses. 

The pinwheel gardens can be found at the following locations:

“We are focusing on the positive changes in our communities and what people can do to protect our children,” said Leslie Slingsby, director of the Bucks County CAC. “So we are saluting the 886 instances in 2013 of caring adults and incredibly brave children who took a loving and courageous step to report abuse.”

Established in 2008, the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center oversees a coordinated, multidisciplinary and comprehensive response to reports of suspected child sexual and physical abuse.
