Volunteer Organizations Asked to Nominate a Citizen of the Year

Nominations for the Inter-Service Club Committee's Citizen of the Year are being accepted through March 20.

The Inter-Service Club Committee sets out to recognize residents who volunteer their time in order to make the township a better place to live by naming a Citizen of the Year. The committee is currently accepting nominations for this year's stand-up citizen.

The winner will be honored at a banquet on April 11, at the Hampton Room. In order to be nominated, the candidate must be a resident of Southampton and must be nominated solely for their volunteer work.

To kick start the nomination process, the chairman of the Citizen of the Year committee sends a letter to all of the volunteer organizations that participate, asking for nominations of "someone who has done an outstanding job of serving the Upper Southampton community." Organizations with a nominee submit the candidates resume to the committee who then votes for the winner.

"Far too often throughout the year our busy schedules do not allow us time to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to serve the community," the letter that was sent to the participating volunteer organizations said.

All nomination forms should be returned by March 20 to Al Hertenberg at 307 Maple Ave., Southampton. Questions and concerns should also be address to Hertenberg by calling 215-255-9800.
