Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, 88, Died in His Sleep

The former Archbishop of Philadelphia was found dead in his apartment at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Tuesday night.

The retired Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua has died at the age of 88. His body was found in his apartment at the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood Tuesday night. A spokesperson from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia told philly.com that Bevilacqua died at 9:15 p.m.  "I was greatly saddened to learn of the death of my predecessor Cardinal Bevilacqua," said Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput. "I encourage all Catholics in the Archdiocese to join me in praying for the repose of his soul and that God will comfort his family as they mourn his loss. Joe Paterno: 1926-2012

The legendary Penn State football died Sunday morning after battling lung cancer.

Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 85. After conflicting reports and speculation running rampant on Saturday, the Paterno family released a statement Sunday morning confirming his death. "He died as he lived," the statement said. "He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community." Marion Soltner

Funeral services for Marion Soltner will be held Friday morning at Davisville Church.

Marion Edna Soltner of Southampton, PA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday; January 7, 2012. She was a very active 84 year old. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Eugene E. Soltner, daughter Nancy Weaver of Lumberton NJ., son Robert Soltner of Virginia Beach, VA., grandchildren Susan, Stephanie, John and Hannah, and great grandchildren Brendan, Amanda, and Sophia. She was the daughter of the late George and Phoebe Bonn.  Marion was a member of Davisville Church, where she would frequently volunteer her time to help others. She enjoyed many outdoor activities including hiking, biking, cross country skiing, nature watching, and gardening. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing grandmother, and truest friend. Obituary: Dave Kimmerle

Dave Kimmerle, a lifelong resident of Southampton and a longtime member of the Southampton Fire Co., died last Saturday.

David J. Kimmerle passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his home following a 5 year battle with cancer. He was 55. The husband of Karen Kimmerle (nee Cattie), Dave was born in Abington to the late George W. and Clare (nee Homsher) Kimmerle. He is preceded in death by his brother, the late George W. Kimmerle Jr. and is survived by his sister Jane Kelly (nee Kimmerle) and will be greatly missed by many brothers and sisters in law, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Dave was a lifetime resident of Southampton and a graduate of William Tennent High school. Oskar Huber Passes Away

All of the Oskar Huber furniture stores will be closed on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Oskar Richard Huber, former president of the Southampton-based furniture retailer, passed away Thursday after battling a short illness. The two Oskar Huber furniture stores, which are still operated by the family, will close their doors on Tuesday in honor of the company's former president, the retailer said on their website. "Dad was very active in his day, not only with managing the family business but also with his many outside interests and concerns. He was known for his generosity, kindness, & faith … and he had a warm, easygoing, and sometimes flamboyant personality … he drew people to him and loved to share a laugh," according to a statement from the Huber family. Southampton Funeral Director Dies Suddenly

John A. McGhee, local funeral director and deputy coroner for Bucks County, died suddenly on Wednesday.

John A. McGhee, 51, of Southampton, died suddenly while at work on Wednesday, July 27. John, a second generation funeral director, continued the dream of his father James J. McGhee Jr. in serving the people in and around the Southampton community. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he is the son of Isabelle (nee Curry) McGhee of Southampton and the late James J. McGhee, Jr. who died in January 2011. John was a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School (1977) and received a degree in mortuary science from Northampton County Community College (1980). Former Police Officer Passes Away

Bill Paupst, a former Upper Southampton Township Police Officer passed away following a motorcycle accident. Visitation is being held this evening.

William John "Mountain Bill" Paupst, of Philadelphia and formerly of Bucks County, passed away at Saturday at St. Mary Medical Center following a motorcycle accident. He was 56. Bill was formerly a police officer in Upper Southampton Township and a truck driver for RP Blair Co. He was also a former volunteer fire fighter for Trevose Fire Co. He was an active member of Warriors Watch and volunteered at the SPCA. He is survived by his wife Rowena (nee Wolfe), who lovingly referred to Bill as her sunshine for the past 26 years. Remembering 'Mr. Southampton Days'

Sam Constantini died last week after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning.

The man who helped shape Southampton Days, Sam Constantini, 72, passed away last Thursday after a long fight with cancer. By all accounts he was a valuable member of the community and a great man. For over 40 years, Constantini had helped plan the annual parade and fair, in addition to being a member of the Inter-Service Club Committee and Southampton - Warminster Area Lions Club. “Sam had a great personality,” said Southampton Days Committee Chairman Patrick Miller. “He was the friendliest person you could ever meet.”  Constantini, who owned Banners and Sign Express in Bensalem, was an icon of the parade. Many people called him 'Mr. Southampton Days'.
