Charles Benz Dies at 72

Services will be held Friday

Charles Joseph Benz III of Southampton Estates died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013, at his residence. He was 72. Mr. Benz was the beloved husband of the late Patricia C. Burrows Benz. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles J. II and Maria Leahy Benz. Mr. Benz was a resident of Southampton for the past 6 years. He formerly lived in Holland. Before retiring in 1995, he was employed as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service in Philadelphia. He was a train enthusiast, especially of steam engine trains. Charles was a member of the National Railway Historical Society and was the founding member of the local chapter in Yardley. He enjoyed gardening and working on projects around his home. Tor W. Jansen, 82, Married 57 Years [Obituary]

Services for Tor W. Jansen, 82, of Southampton be held on Tuesday. He died March 7.

Tor W. Jansen, 82, of Southampton, died on March 7, 2013. Mr. Jansen was born in Oslo, Norway, the son of the late Rev. Ludvig and Gerda (Gundersen) Jansen, and came to America in 1947. He was the loving husband of May Jansen, with whom he had shared 57 years of marriage. Tor served four years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957. He received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from San Jose State College and worked for the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, PA for 28 years where he was awarded patents for his work. Tor personified faith with action. He was a very active member of St. Andrews and Lehman Memorial United Methodist churches. His home was always open to anyone who needed help. Over his …

Marie E. (nee Wade) Zienkewicz, of Warminster, died tragically at her residence Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013. She was 89. Mrs. Zienkewicz was the beloved wife of the late Stanley R. Zienkewicz; the loving mother of Stanley R. and his wife, Connie, Donna M. Burke and her husband, Gary, Lynnanne T. Gies and her husband, Bill, and Kevin P. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Eleanor Keane. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Campbell and Thomas Funeral Home, 905 Second Street Pike, Richboro. Several high-ranking politicos, including Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Mitt Romney and Bill Clinton are spending the last few days before the election in Montgomery County in a last big push to mobilize voters.

  With only a few days left until the election, candidates and their proxies are making the rounds in some of the battleground states this weekend, including Pennsylvania. Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, made a few campaign stops in Montgomery County this weekend – in Media on Friday and then in Norristown, West Chester, Germantown and the Northeast on Saturday. On her Saturday stops, she was accompanied by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. Arlen Specter Celebrated at Funeral by Friends, Family and the Famous

Vice President Joe Biden was among those to speak about the 82-year-old former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania who died Sunday.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) was remembered by loved ones Tuesday as a man of independence, virtue and influence, with well over 1,000 people, including Vice President Joe Biden, filling a suburban Philadelphia synagogue for his funeral. Har Zion Temple in Lower Merion Township's Penn Valley held the 90-minute ceremony before Specter, who died Sunday at 82 in his Philadelphia home, was to be buried in Huntington Valley. Pallbearers wheeled his American flag-draped casket out of the temple as Frank Sinatra's "My Way" played. Before the funeral, the Specter family greeted a steady stream of mourners that began pouring in more than two hours early. Arlen Specter Funeral Open to Public Tuesday in MontCo

Vice President Joe Biden plans to attend the service. Specter, the former U.S. senator, died Sunday at 82.

A funeral for former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) will be held at noon Tuesday at Har Zion Temple in Lower Merion, Montgomery County. The service is open to the public; cameras and recording devices are prohibited. Specter will then be buried in Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery County. Among those expected to attend the funeral is Vice President Joe Biden, USA Today reported. Har Zion's address is 1500 Hagys Ford Road, Narberth, PA 19072; it is less than a mile from the Gladwyne exit (Exit 337) of Interstate 76. Sen. Arlen Specter Dies

The former U.S. Senator fought a long battle with cancer.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday, according to CNN, at age 82 in his Philadelphia home. Specter represented Pennsylvania in the Senate for 30 years. Specter started as a Democrat but switched to the Republican party before being elected to the U.S. Senate. The senator made headlines in 2009 when he switched to the Democratic Party. Specter announced his diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease in 2005. He underwent multiple treatments of chemotherapy and finally succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Sunday. Sen. David Betz died suddenly on Friday. He was 36.

William D. “David” Betz, JR., partner at Wm. Betz, Jr. Inc., died suddenly on May 25, 2012. He was 36. David was the loving son of Bill and Marilyn (nee Sokolis) Betz and beloved brother of Alexandra Little (Michael) and Victoria Hutz (Michael). Relatives, friends and employees of Wm.
