Taco Bell Seeks Approval for Expansion

The Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors will hold its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

The Board of Supervisors will meet tonight, Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room at the Southampton Free Library. The board will discuss whether or not to approve a preliminary plan of a major subdivision for Taco Bell, located at 436 Second Street Pike. In addition, the floor will be open for public comment at the beginning of the meeting, and the community is invited to discuss anything that is not on the evening's agenda.

Digital Signs to be Discussed at Supervisors Meeting

The Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors are scheduled to meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

The Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room at the Southampton Free Library. Several topics are on the meeting agenda. Among the items listed, the board will discuss authorizing advertisement of an ordinance establishing regulations for digital signs, as well as discuss the hiring of a planner/consultant to implement portions of the township's comprehensive plan. In addition, the floor will be open for public comment at the beginning of the meeting, and the community is invited to discuss anything that is not on the evening's agenda.

Supervisors: No New Taxes

The Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors adopted the 2013 budget and approved a new rental fee schedule Tuesday evening.

The Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the township's 2013 budget Tuesday evening. The budget keeps the real estate tax rate at 21.88 mills, the same as for 2012; trash collection fees will also remain unchanged.   Read: Supervisors Hold Line on Taxes Supervisors also voted to approve a new fee schedule proposed by the parks and recreation board Tuesday evening. This will change the rate schedule for the rental of township facilities.  The new schedule does not account for the time of the proposed rental (i.e. weekday vs. weekend) and instead charges one hourly rate for residents and another for non residents.  You can view a copy of the new rental fee schedule in the pdf section of this article; Click here…

Supervisors Hold Line on Taxes

The Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors proposed a balanced budget with no additional real estate taxes for 2013.

Upper Southampton Township will not be asking for an increase in real estate taxes for 2013. "I am absolutely pleased that there is no tax increase, that the budget is balanced and that we can move forward," said Township Supervisor Lola Biuckians. The proposed budget that the board of supervisors proffered at its meeting Tuesday evening kept the real estate tax rate at 21.88 mills, the same as for 2012. Trash collection fees also remained unchanged. Township Manager Joe Golden said the township will continue its aggressive program to improve infrastructure, particularly in the areas of stormwater management, street paving and recreation.  Golden offered the following summary of the 2013 budget:  Included in the budget is the construction …

Tonight's Board of Supervisors meeting has been canceled.

The township's Board of Supervisors meeting that was set for tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the library has been cancelled, according to the township. The next meeting is scheduled to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, in the meeting room below the library.

Board of Supervisors to Meet Tonight

Supervisors will vote on the purchase of a new vehicle for township use.

The township Board of Supervisors will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the lower community room at the Southampton Free Library. The board will discuss whether to approve the purchase of a new vehicle for the public works department, according to the agenda. The supervisors will also award a contract for the purchase of road materials; vote on Resolution #2012-5, which would authorize the disposition of some public records; discuss a possible change in the township's banking services; and award a yard waste disposal contract. Several other items will also be talked about at the meeting. In addition, public comment will be offered.

Soccer Association Offers Township Financial Contribution for Veterans Field

The president of the Southampton Soccer Association outlined contribution ideas for Veterans Field at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.

The president of the Southampton Soccer Association outlined ideas for the clubs participation in the completion of Veterans Field during the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, March 6. "We're in the final stages of a very exciting project," said Bill Clark, president of the association. While there are people who are going to love the fields, he said, there are people who "are going to do something stupid." The fields have already been "turfed" by someone on a motorcycle, Clark said, which sparked the idea for one of the soccer association's suggestions. I would hope that other Southampton township sports organizations get the option to use this area. Also, how may Southampton residents are actually involved in Southampton Soccer? I understand that many of them are from outside of our own township. Does the money that soccer is putting up for the improvements grant them sole use? Soccer Signups Underway

Registration for the Southampton Soccer Association is only available online.

Registration for the 2012 Southampton Soccer Association is now open, according to the group's Web site. Registration runs until May 31 and, according to the Web site, the intramural season runs on Saturdays starting after Labor Day. Travel team tryouts are not listed, though the site says they should happen in the spring. Representatives from the association are schedule to appear at tomorrow's township supervisors meeting. The agenda simply reads "Presentation by the Southampton Soccer Club regarding Veterans Field" and Patch didn't get a response to an e-mail. However, the supervisors will also be considering bids for the construction of a restroom and concession building at Veterans Park, where there is already construction underway …
