One day before starting the official count of unsheltered people living in Bucks County, volunteer Deborah Neidhart asked a staff member at one of the Central Bucks libraries if she knew of any homeless people in the area. Neidhart said the woman was shocked and denied that there were any homeless people at all in the area. "If you are not exposed to it, if you don't see it, then you really don't know that it exists," she said. "It's more invisible in Central Bucks than anywhere else in the county." A Langhorne church is on-call to help the homeless and needy, while weekend temperatures are expected to drop.
A governmental cold-weather alert has been extended until next week, keeping a church on-call to help the homeless or others needing shelter. The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures overnight on Friday and Saturday to hover around 19 or 20 degrees, but on Sunday night, the thermometer is expected to dip down to just 9 degrees. Langhorne Terrace Ministries is Bucks County's on-call church for January. That means the church activates its emergency shelter, as well as coordinating transportation, temporary shelter, food and other needs. Bucks County's emergency management department had issued the Code Blue alert last week; it was to have expired on Wednesday. But given the recent snowstorm and dipping temperatures, county …
