The cups will be cleaned with boiling water at each refill and customers will get $0.10 off their coffee when they reuse.
Starbucks is introducing an affordable way for its customers to reduce waste. The Huffington Post reports that starting today, Starbucks will offer $1 reusable cups. Customers who use the cups, which look like the standard paper cups with the Starbucks logo, will get a dime off their beverage. The cups will be cleaned in boiling water by Starbucks staff each time they are brought in for use. According to its website, Starbucks has a goal to serve five percent of beverages in personal reusable tumblers by 2015.

In honor of National Coffee Day, find out which professions consume the most cups of coffee.
Do you start each morning with a cup of coffee? Or are you one of those people that sip a cup of Joe for a mid-morning pick me up, an afternoon push and an after work motivator? Dunkin Donuts and CareerBuilder teamed up to create a survey of which professions rely on coffee most. And of those surveyed, 63 percent drink at least two cups of coffee per day and an additional 28 percent drink at least three cups. There are a ton of teachers, nurses and business executives in the area - we are guessing that retailers like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts and convenience stores like 7-Eleven are quite busy here in 18966. Several local retailers will be giving away a free cup o' joe on Friday and Saturday.
This week is National Coffee Week and Saturday is National Coffee Day. In celebration, several retailers are giving away free coffee. McDonald's is currently offering free, small servings of their Premium Roast Coffee. They will continue the promotion though Saturday. On Friday, 7-Eleven will be giving away free 20-ounce cups from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The convenience store chain has taken the idea one step further with their coinciding '7-Election' promotion. Customers will be asked to choose between an Obama or a Romney coffee cup. You can view the results of the informal coffee poll online.
