The Southampton Community Band opens its 2012-2013 concert series with a program theme “No Passport Needed” at Klinger Middle School, Friday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. “The band is excited about this program because of the variety of music that is presented,” said band director Marvin Feld. Students from 6th - 8th grade gathered in the Klinger Middle School auditorium to showcase their talents. Jazz Band, Orchestra, as well as both the 6th and combined 7th and 8th Grade Bands all performed.
From 7:00-8:30 on Wednesday evening, Klinger's musically-gifted students came together for a brief but impressive spring concert. Director Kristen DeLia led the Jazz band to begin the show, playing some old favorites including Rock Around the Clock and Herbie Hancock's, Chameleon. Christopher Goppold followed DeLia, directing both of the school's Orchestras. Violinist, Maxim Tsoy, put in an excellent performance with a solo during the Orchestra's rendition of Serenade. DeLia returned to lead the school bands (both the 6th grade class and the 7th and 8th grade classes.) Both bands combined to finish the show with a version of Corps of Discovery by William Owens.
