The Centennial School Board approved the hiring of Michael Johnson as principal of Klinger Middle School.
The search is over. After spending six months and evaluating two panels of candidates, the Centennial School Board Tuesday night voted unanimously to hire Michael Johnson as Klinger Middle School's principal. Johnson, who currently works as an elementary curriculum specialist for Abington School District, will assume the role effective July 1. He will earn a $123,000 annual salary, according to Christopher Berdnik, the district's business manager. He will replace current Klinger Principal Dennis Best, whom the school board approved as principal of William Tennent High School in January. The school board has appointed Catherine Perkins to the post.
The Centennial School Board unanimously approved the hiring of a new assistant principal for Klinger Middle School. Catherine Perkins expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the district at Tuesday evening’s school board meeting. “I am very eager to work with the students, the staff, the parents, the administrators and the entire Centennial community,” Perkins said “I am looking forward to facilitating the continued success of the students at Klinger.” According to PhillyBurbs.com, Perkins was previously the district curriculum coordinator for family and consumer sciences in Council Rock School District. Dennis Best, who is currently the principal of Klinger Middle School, was selected to become the next principal of William Tennent High School.
In a last minute addition to the agenda, the Centennial School Board named Dennis Best as the next principal of William Tennent High School at its meeting Tuesday evening. Best is currently the principal of Klinger Middle School; he will transition into his new role after a successor for his current position is in place. Barbara Stevenson has been serving as the interim principal at the high school since Eileen Poroszok retired in August 2012. Prior to her retirement, Poroszok took a leave of absence in November 2011. She served as Tennent’s principal for 13 years.
