Gas Prices Start a Seasonal Climb

The national average for self-serve gas has increased for 10 straight days to the highest price in more than a month, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average this for a gallon is $3.588, up 4.9 cents from last week, but still about 14 cents lower than a year ago. But according to the report, the year over year difference will likely continue to fade due to higher crude oil prices and refinery maintenance that decreases supply. In Bucks and Montgomery counties, gas prices went up 5 cents since last week, making the average price $3.530, that’s .3 cents less than a month ago and 25.9 lower than last year’s prices. April Gas Prices Have Been Good to Drivers

Gas prices in every state—except Idaho—have seen another decrease since last week, according to AAA’s fuel report. In Pennsylvania, the average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.552 per gallon down 5.4 cents from a week ago. U.S. gasoline prices in April have continued to fall, the reports states, not just because of weak demand, but oil prices have also moved sharply lower. In Bucks and Montgomery, the average price for a gallon is $3.525 per gallon, which is down 4.7 cents from a week ago, 16 cents lower than a month ago and 45.4 cents lower than a year ago. Gas Cheaper Now Than Last Year

Pennsylvanians are paying an average of 11.5 cents less today for a gallon of gas than we paid at this time last year, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average for a gallon in the state is now $3.698, down 2.5 cents from a week ago. In Bucks and Montgomery Counties, gas prices dropped 3.2 cents a gallon to an average of $3.677, that’s 9.5 cents lower than a month ago and 11.4 cents lower than last year’s prices. The national average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.692, down 1.1 cents from a week ago. Gas Prices Decline Slightly

Drivers in every state are paying more at the pump than a month ago; however, Pennsylvania drivers are beginning to get some relief, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Gas prices in the state have dropped 3.4 cents from a week ago and 3.5 cents in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. With “spot” gasoline prices (gasoline sold for immediate payment and delivery) also dropping dramatically across the country, it is likely that retail prices will continue to fall in the coming days, the report states. Gas Prices Remain Steady This Week

In the last month, gas prices have jumped about 30 cents in Bucks and Montgomery, but this last week saw little change, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The surge in gasoline prices has been driven somewhat by rising crude oil prices but more directly because of refinery maintenance issues. This has meant less gasoline being produced and fewer supplies, which has pushed prices higher. Locally, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery is $3.779, up .7 cents since last week, 30.5 cents higher than a month ago and 4.5 cents higher than a year ago. Gas Prices Drop 4 Cents a Gallon

Gas prices seem to finally be dropping as we head into the cooler months of the year. Nationwide, the average price of self-serve regular gasoline dropped 9 cents, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. In Bucks County, the average price of a gallon is $3.888, which is 3.9 cents lower from a week ago, 7.5 cents lower than a month ago and 38.4 cents higher than a year ago. While the national average price for a gallon of gasoline has begun to decline, the daily average price has been the highest on record for each calendar day for eight straight weeks. Gas prices dropped an average of 6.3 cents in Pennsylvania and 4.5 cents in Bucks and Montgomery counties from a week ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Nationally, the average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.810, down 4.9 cents from last week. Historically, gas prices tend to fall from September through Christmas. AAA Makes Predictions for Autumn Gas Prices

Prices are dropping, but are still much higher than a year ago.

AAA released its weekly Fuel Gauge Report Tuesday, in which the agency predicts gas prices will continue to fall from now until Christmas. According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.81, down 4.9 cents from a week ago. In the Philadelphia region, the average price is slightly higher at $3.91, down 4.5 cents from last week. That also marks a decrease of 11.8 cents over the past month. However, prices are considerably higher than this time last year: 31.8 cents higher in Philadelphia, and 30.5 cents higher nationally.
