Products that may have been sold in area Giant stores are being recalled due to possible E. coli contamination. Giant has announced it is following a recall by Rich Products Corporation, after some of its snack products were found to have Escherichia coli 0121 bacteria (E. coli) contamination. The following products are included in this recall: Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Giant for a full refund. Symptoms of E.coli 0121 exposure could include stomach cramps and diarrhea, including diarrhea with bloody stools, according to information provided by Giant. Burglary 400 Block of Rick Road Wednesday, March 6, Sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Police report a burglar forced open the rear door of a home on Rick Road Wednesday. The homeowner said jewelry was missing from the home. Unknown value of loss.

From now until March 30, 2013, Giant shoppers can rack up points by scanning their Reward Cards at the cash register. The more points they earn equals more funds for the schools. Spokesman: Customers gave ‘overwhelmingly negative’ feedback regarding the lean beef.
Giant Food Stores joined several other grocery chains, and will no longer purchase and sell fresh “finely textured ground beef.” The reason? Customers hate it, and they expressed it by telling store managers, calling the Giant consumer affairs department and via Facebook. “More than 100 customers expressed concerns over finely textured ground beef; we of course listen and have a good relationship with our customers,” Giant Food Stores spokesman Christopher Brand said today. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly negative. “I will tell you that we have a very educated consumer," he continued.
