PECO Reporting Wide-Spread Power Outages

Outages began in the early morning hours and continue through the afternoon in several parts of our region.

The ice covered trees are pretty to look at, but they have been wreaking havoc on our region all throughout the morning. Around 11 a.m., Upper Southampton Police were directing traffic at several intersections along County Line Road, as the traffic signals were rendered non-functional due to the lack of power. "We have been experiencing these types of problems all over the township," said Sgt. Jeffrey Delp, from his post at the intersection of 2nd Street Pike and County Line Road. "The outages are mostly from the weight of the ice pushing tree limbs into the power lines." PECO Spokeswoman Liz Williamson said that across the system, about 40,000 customers are without power. Yet Another Major Winter Storm in the Forecast

Experts are saying another storm will hit our area this week; this time, however, they say the snow will not be the worst part.

Snow. Everyone is talking about it and you can't avoid thinking about it, as it is  everywhere.  Upper Southampton Township received in excess of 12 inches during a storm that pounded the area last Wednesday. And now, the National Weather Service said more snowfall is expected from Monday night into Tuesday, with quite a few inches of accumulation possible. Oddly enough, the snow isn't the worst part of the looming storm. Late Tuesday, the snow is expected to turn into a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain. The National Weather Service has issued weather briefing, suggesting the worst part of what is to come may be the icing, and they are not talking about on the proverbial cake. This briefing said parts of Bucks County are threatened by…
