New Principal Hired for Klinger Middle School

The Centennial School Board approved the hiring of Michael Johnson as principal of Klinger Middle School.

The search is over. After spending six months and evaluating two panels of candidates, the Centennial School Board Tuesday night voted unanimously to hire Michael Johnson as Klinger Middle School's principal.  Johnson, who currently works as an elementary curriculum specialist for Abington School District, will assume the role effective July 1. He will earn a $123,000 annual salary, according to Christopher Berdnik, the district's business manager.  He will replace current Klinger Principal Dennis Best, whom the school board approved as principal of William Tennent High School in January.  School board member Mark Miller, who led the principal search committee, said it was the "whole package" that made Johnson stand out as the best person …

Southampton Softball Opening Day Sunday

Show your support and celebrate opening day at the family events held at the fields next to Klinger Middle School Sunday.

Southampton Girls Club Softball will hold its opening day Sunday at the softball fields at Klinger Middle School.  Team pictures will be taken in the morning with the official Opening Day Ceremony following at 12:00 noon.  You don't have to be a part of the organization to show your support—there will be a moon bounce/slide, face painting, and the snack bar will be open, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The season will officially kick off with the Southampton versus Southampton 12U game, scheduled to begin at 3:30pm.

Middle School Roof Repairs to Cost Centennial $1.5M

Repairs will take place over the summer and should be completed by the start of the 2013-14 academic year, according to school board members.

The Centennial School Board recently approved a bid to replace the roof at Log College Middle School and to patch the roof at Klinger Middle School. The bid was awarded to Jottan, Inc. of Florence, N.J. at a cost of $1,472,523 for Log College and $54,800 for Klinger.  The roof at Log College Middle School will receive a complete replacement, while the roof at Klinger Middle School will by patched, with total replacement to take place at a later date.   “We are leaning toward [the year of] 14-15 for the replacing the roof at Klinger,” said Board Member Michael Hartline.  Board Member Jane Schrader Lynch questioned the sum total of the roof repairs, noting that the total cost incurred would not be covered by the money obtained from last year…

Klinger Cheerleaders Take Top Prize in Regional Competition

In addition to taking first place, the squad was awarded the highest overall score at the competition.

The Klinger Middle School Cheerleaders were awarded top prize at the Lower Bucks Cheerleading League Competition held at Morrisville High School earlier this month. The girls placed first in the competition and were awarded the highest score overall. "Its a big accomplishment for them and we are very proud," said Coach Jamie Chase. "They worked very hard."  The cheerleaders performed a combination of partner stunts, pyramids, a cheer, tumbling and a dance, according to the school's website.

Southampton Community Band Presents March Concert at Klinger

The program begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday and the concert theme is 'Just for Fun.'

The Southampton Community Band will present its third concert of the season at Klinger Middle School on Saturday, March 23.  The program begins at 8 PM and the concert theme is Just for Fun. "This has been an enjoyable change of pace for the band to practice and hopefully for our audience to hear", said Marvin Feld, the band's director. "A light-hearted program will help to break the winter doldrums. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to participate." John Hunt, a member of the band, will introduce his instrumental hobby by performing on the saw. Additional selections will include Sandpaper Ballet, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and a collection of "spooky" Halloween themes entitled Band-O-Ween.  Tickets are …

New Assistant Principal Hired at Klinger Middle School

The school board has appointed Catherine Perkins to the post.

The Centennial School Board unanimously approved the hiring of a new assistant principal for Klinger Middle School. Catherine Perkins expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the district at Tuesday evening’s school board meeting.  “I am very eager to work with the students, the staff, the parents, the administrators and the entire Centennial community,” Perkins said  “I am looking forward to facilitating the continued success of the students at Klinger.” According to PhillyBurbs.com, Perkins was previously the district curriculum coordinator for family and consumer sciences in Council Rock School District. 'The Little Mermaid' on Stage at Klinger Middle School

Tickets for the shows canceled due to last weekend's inclement weather will be honored this weekend.

Due to the inclement weather last weekend, Centennial canceled all weekend activities - including the scheduled performances of "The Little Mermaid" at Klinger Middle School. If you purchased a ticket for one of last weekend's shows, not to worry. Ticket holders can redeem their tickets at performances to be held this weekend. Tickets previously purchased must be used for the same day and time, or you can exchange for a general admission ticket at the lower office at the middle school.  The opening night show begins at 7 p.m. Friday evening. School Board Names Best Principal of WTHS

Dennis Best, who is currently the principal of Klinger Middle School, was selected to become the next principal of William Tennent High School.

In a last minute addition to the agenda, the Centennial School Board named Dennis Best as the next principal of William Tennent High School at its meeting Tuesday evening.  Best is currently the principal of Klinger Middle School; he will transition into his new role after a successor for his current position is in place.  Barbara Stevenson has been serving as the interim principal at the high school since Eileen Poroszok retired in August 2012. Prior to her retirement, Poroszok took a leave of absence in November 2011. She served as Tennent’s principal for 13 years.
