Monty's Sandwich Shop Expands Hours

Beginning earlier this month, the popular Southampton sandwich shop expanded its business hours.

Earlier this month, Monty's Sandwich Shop expanded its business hours. The shop, located in the Hampton Square Shopping Center, is now open for the following hours: Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Workers said the busiest times for orders are Friday and Saturday evenings.  Read More: Bringing a Taste of Philly to Southampton  Best of Southampton: Sandwiches

Thief Absconds with Monty's Deep Fryer

The following information was supplied by the Upper Southampton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.   Theft Monty's Sandwich Shop, 354 Second Street Pike Sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 9 Someone stole an Imperial Deep Fryer from just outside the rear door of Monty's Sandwich Shop. A surveillance video showed a white stake body truck in the area during the time frame.   Attempted Entry 300 block of Jefferson Drive Between 6 and 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 9 A homeowner reports someone tried to enter the rear door of their house. No entry was made and nothing was reported missing.

Bringing a Taste of Philly to Southampton

Monty's Sandwich Shop offers a variety of sandwiches and has what some say is a cheesesteak comparable to Philly’s finest.

The word on the street is you don’t need to hop in the car and make the half hour drive to famed restaurants like Tony Luke’s or Geno’s for the best of the best when it comes to cheesesteaks.  “There’s a lot of good places to get cheesesteaks,” said Jay Sahl, a customer at Monty's Sandwich Shop . “I consider (this place) right up there with the good cheesesteak places." Owners Ken Buchholz and Mark Irwin opened their shop in the Hampton Square Shopping Center on Second Street Pike about nine months ago. Buchholz and Irwin said they envisioned a high quality place, comparable to the where they liked to grab some grub in Philadelphia. “We figured this area needs something like that,” said Buchholz.
