Southampton Days Parade Prize Winners

While ultimately everyone who participated in the Southampton Days Parade is a winner, Patch recognizes those judged best in category.

In a community tradition that stretches back nearly 100 years, the Southampton Days annual Fourth of July parade went off without a hitch again last week. Thousands lined Second Street Pike to witness various community members strut their stuff in celebration of our nation's independence. The Southampton Days Committee recognized several participants for their efforts, following a flag-raising ceremony at the conclusion of the parade on Wednesday. In the Floats category: 1st  Place - Lovenstein Family 2nd Place - Girl Scouts 3rd  Place - Concordia Lodge No. 67 In the Organizations category: 1st Place - Southampton Knights Cheerleaders 2nd Place -  Action Karate 3rd Place - Boy Scout Troop 400 Each entry in the parade was judged on the …

Southampton Fireworks Schedule and Information

Celebrate the Fourth of July Southampton style at the Southampton Days Country Fair and fireworks!

  Fourth of July is Southampton Day - a full-on Independence Day celebration in Southampton. The 41st annual Southampton Days Country Fair continues at Tamanend Park.   The fair reopens at the ball fields at 6 p.m. There is a $3 admission fee for those over the age of 3. This fee includes entry to the fair, the two concerts and the annual fireworks spectacular. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 p.m. at the football fields behind Klinger Middle School.  NOTE: Beginning at 7 p.m., Second Street Pike will be closed (except for buses) between Street Road and Bristol Road. Southampton Days Books Available Around Town

Start planning ahead for the fun and festivities at Southampton's annual week-long July 4th celebration.

With just two weeks left until the big celebration, the Southampton Days books are popping up all around town. Start planning your time at the annual week-long country fair in advance with your very own copy. A $1 donation to the Scholarship Fund buys a keepsake yearbook full of articles and pictures from past celebrations, as well as a program of this year's scheduled events. Best part: the book practically pays for itself with the free bingo coupon that can be found inside.  Southampton Days books can be purchased at the Southampton Free Library, the township's parks and recreation office, Firstrust Bank or either the Maple Avenue or Street Road 7-Eleven. Countdown begins to Southampton Days 2012

With just two months left, the Southampton Days Committee is busy finalizing all of the details for the annual week-long celebration.

While the finishing touches are still being placed on the master schedule, most of the particulars are in place for this year's Southampton Days Celebration. The 41st annual country fair will be held from Monday, July 2 until Saturday, July 7, 2012. This year the theme of the celebration is: Our Legacy - Past & Present. The Southampton Days Committee recently met to discuss finalizing some of the details, the things that often go unnoticed by the general public but are integral to keeping the week-long celebration running smoothly. Among other things, the group discussed the layout of the infamous Southampton Days program book. Best Places to Watch the Mummers Parade

Planning to head into the city to catch the Mummer's Parade? Here's some tips on how to score the best spot along the parade route.

Tomorrow marks the start of the new year and everyone knows how Philadelphians like to celebrate - watching the Mummers strut their stuff up Broad St. The parade, which begins at 10 a.m., starts in South Philadelphia and ends at City Hall, with approximately 8 hours of pageantry in-between. Officials from the city suggest that spectators leave their cars behind and use public transportation to get into the city (although if you get there early enough, there is plenty of parking). If you are planning to head to the city to watch the parade from the sidewalk along Broad St., be sure to on get to the parade route early and set up near a drill location, where the String Bands and Fancy Brigades stop to perform. Celebrating 40 Years of Fun, Fair & Family

Preparations Underway As Parade Draws Near

Upper Southampton is readying for Monday's festivities which will bring thousands of people to the township.

Final preparations for the upcoming week's festivities are underway all around Upper Southampton. With less than 72-hours remaining public works crews swept the street, placed barricades to block traffic at strategic locations, and volunteers hung posters along Second Street Pike. The parade is set to kick off at 9:30 a.m. and travel 1.7 miles from Second Street Pike and Jaymor Road to Klinger Middle School, where the parade will end. According to the Southampton Days website everyone that will be participating in the parade must meet on Jaymor Road and be in place at 9:30 a.m. when the parade starts or they will be placed at the end of the parade.
