Centennial School District reports that a student was hit by a school bus in Warminster Tuesday morning.
Centennial School District recently issued the following statement via the district's website: This morning, November 27, 2012, a student was struck by a Centennial bus at the intersection of Street and Centennial Roads. Upon receipt of notification of the accident, Warminster Township Police, EMT, and Centennial Administration responded immediately to the scene. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated police and EMT force and grateful for their rapid response. The School District has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. There was no word on the identity of the student or the student's condition. Patch will update this story as more details become available.

Mid-day kindergarten schedules have been posted and the schedules for Klinger, Log and WTHS have been updated.
Centennial School District's Transportation Department recently posted prliminary bus schedules for the 2012-13 school year on the district's website. However, parents were told they should be checking back often, as the schedules would be subject to changes. Centennial School District has released a preliminary version of its much anticipated school bus schedule for 2012-13.
Centennial School District's transportation department has posted a preliminary bus schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. According to a notice placed on the district's website, these schedules will be in effect starting the opening day of school and will remain in effect until the district completes rerouting of all of the bus schedules. Administration expects the new schedules to be completed in October, and anticipates changing to the new bus schedule by the end of the first marking period, which commences in mid-November. From the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation: As the new school year begins, PennDOT reminds drivers to remain vigilant as students and school buses return to the roadways. "Our ultimate goal is to make sure everyone safely arrives at their destination," said PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch. "Motorists should avoid distractions and obey school bus and school zone traffic laws so we have the safest possible environment for students boarding and exiting buses." Transportation Director Wayne Robinson said the later dismissal times will help the buses arrive at the schools on time.
The members of the Centennial Education Committee unanimously approved Transportation Director Wayne Robinson's request to alter the arrival and dismissal schedule for the district's elementary schools when the 2012-2013 school year begins. The new full-day schedule will look like the following: "The new schedule will help us provide more timely service for the students in the morning and afternoon," said Robinson during Wednesday night's meeting. A father of two children suspended from a district bus transporting them to a charter school had asked for the injunction when he filed a $50,000 lawsuit against Centennial.
A judge issued a ruling from the bench that denied an emergency injunction for Centennial School District's decision to suspend bus privileges for two boys that representatives from the district say created an unsafe environment while being transported to the MaST charter school. Upper Southampton attorney Michael McGuigan filed a $50,000 lawsuit earlier this month against the district on behalf of his two sons, claiming in court documents obtained that their civil rights had been violated. Several parents have voiced concerns about the district's school bus service, mainly the new pick-up and drop-off points for students and the number of riders on a bus.
Transportation issues dominated the discussion at the Centennial School Board Operations Committee meeting Wednesday evening. School bus pick-up and drop-off points across the district were reorganized this year, with many moved to new locations. The new plan received its first run on Wednesday morning and was met with several complaints after only the first day. The district intends for the bus routes established this year to carry through to next year, when the district closes both Longstreth and Stackpole and reopens Davis Elementary. All these negative comments about the bus drivers and assumptions about the accident itself, make me laugh. People make it seem that most bus drivers are bad drivers.
