New Year's Day pushes trash collection back to Saturday again this week.

There will be no trash collection across the township on Friday due to the holiday on New Year's Day. Thanksgiving Holiday Pushes Trash Collection to Saturday

Trash and recycling pick up moves to Saturday this week, to account for the holiday.

  There will be no trash collection across the township on Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the holiday collection schedule, all trash and recyclables will be collected on Saturday, November 24. Township officials are hopeful that notices posted in several places, including the township website, will help alleviate some of the confusion experienced earlier this year. Trash Collection Moved to Saturday in Southampton

Due to Hurricane Sandy, trash will be collected on Saturday.

Cleaning out the fridge after losing power? Don't haul those cans to the curb just yet. Trash will not be collected in the township on Friday. The township recently posted a notice on their website stating trash collection in Southampton has been moved to Saturday, due to the storm.

Earlier this evening, the chairman of the township's board of supervisors suggested that residents call the township building tomorrow if your yard waste has not been collected. The number is 215-322-9700.   more ›

Trash to be Collected on Saturday

The Labor Day holiday pushed back trash collection across the township.

If you haven't done so already, don't take that trash out to the curb. Trash will not be collected across the township until Saturday, Sept. 8, due to the holiday this past Monday.

Township officials are hopeful that notices posted in several places, including the township website, will help alleviate some of the confusion experienced earlier this year. Letter to the Editor: Trash Collection

Township Manager Joe Golden responds to residents concerns regarding trash collection.

Effective May 1, trash, recycling, and bulk waste collection is on Fridays; yard waste collection is on Mondays. Switching to once a week trash collection was done for two primary purposes: reduce the trash fee and to encourage recycling. The trash fee was reduced from $345 per year to $310 per effective this year, and the fee is expected to remain at that rate for four years. This is suprising considering trash collection is labor and vehicle/gas consumption intensive. Last year, the Township switched to single stream recycling and expanded the types of materials which can be recycled. I agree. With today's ability to be aired on public access cable ALL government meetings should be televised. Failure to do so lends an air of legitimacy to concerns of secretive dealings, denial of public opinion and the ability to change the story. Upper Southampton Patch grants a one-time reprieve for talking trash on the site.

Trash collection in the township changed to Fridays only, effective May 1. However, it appears several people in township still put their trash out on the curb this morning. A drive through the township Tuesday afternoon showed 4 out of 5 homes had both trash and recyclables in front of their home. So you tell us... did you put your trash out today? The major cost of trash service is for the TRASH not the service. There is a fee per ton to dispose of it. Your service was cut in half, but I am very certain the amount of trash has not been.   more ›

Township Cuts Trash Collection to Once Per Week

Officials say the reduction in collection days will save money.

Come May 2012, Southampton residents will only have trash pick-up once per week as opposed to the current schedule of twice weekly collection. The Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 Tuesday evening to accept J.P. Mascaro’s bid to continue as the township’s waste hauler.  Currently, residents pay a yearly $345 tax for trash disposal; this will be lowered to $340 come 2012 due to the new contract. Township Manager Joseph Golden said the move to one trash collection day per-week will save the township a “significant” amount of money. Golden said he hopes to the savings accrued over next few years to help fund street paving projects and purchase a new street sweeper.
