The Southampton Girls Club is looking to add both travel and select teams.
Southampton Girls Club Softball has obtained additional gym space to accomidate a growing demand for its Sunday skills clinics. The free skills clinics will continue to be held on Sundays from 4 to 5 p.m., however, the location of the clinic will be based on age. The clinic locations are as follows: The organization is also looking to expand its program to include select and travel teams. President Wendy Chenworth said anyone who is interested in playing on one of those teams must attend the 12 and over skills clinic for evaluation. She said while at the clinic girls should ask for Mike Miller and let him know that you are interested in these new teams. Motorists who drive County Line Road between Centennial Road and Huntingdon Pike may want to find an alternate route, especially during peak hours of travel.
Travel on County Line Road between Centennial Road and Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike/Second Street Pike) will be restricted to one lane of travel beginning Monday, as the ongoing water main installation project continues. Find the cheapest gas in Southampton.
The national average price for a gallon of regular self serve gasoline has increased 50 of the last 56 days, and went up 42 cents from the summer low of $3.33 on July 2, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. Some states – Hawaii, California, Washington, Oregon and Connecticut are paying more than $4 a gallon. In the Bucks and Montgomery Counties, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.803 per gallon, which is up 1.5 cents from a week ago, 16.9 cents higher than a month ago and 15.6 cents higher than a year ago. AAA, however, predicts prices will start to decline again after Labor Day. Locally, the cheapest price for regular is $3.70. Gas prices dropped 1 cent since last week, but prices are up about 20 cents from June and will remain high through Labor Day according to AAA predictions. In the Bucks and Montgomery area, July ends with the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline at $3.625 per gallon, which is .6 cents lower than a week ago, but 21.6 cents higher than a month ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. That is the largest increase for July in more than a dozen years. Drivers nationwide saw prices reverse in July after three months of steady declines at the pump. AAA says 1 in 10 residents in the Philadelphia metropolitan area will travel this holiday weekend.
AAA-Mid Atlantic estimates that 400,000 residents of the five county area will be traveling this Memorial Day Weekend. Of that figure, 88 percent plan to drive to their destination, roughly the same number as last year, says AAA. “Despite near-record-high gas prices this spring, Philadelphia area residents are ready to travel to welcome the summer season this Memorial Day holiday weekend,” said Jenny M. For the best place to see the parade, aim to be in the middle of the Parade route between the Plaza and the Neighborhood Street (“where the black meets the blue”). 2. A good time to visit Sesame’s restaurants is either during the parade or between 11 a.m. and noon. 3. You can always find a Sesame Street character at “1-2-3 Smile with Me!” 4.
