Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory calling for wind gusts up to 50 m.p.h.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Southampton and the surrounding area including Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. The advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. and calls for sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusting from 45 to 50 mph. NWS said strong wind gusts can knock down tree limbs and possibly some weaker trees, especially with the recent rainfall. Isolated power outages may occur. Winds could also make it difficult to drive high-profile vehicles, especially on bridges and other elevated roadways. Motorists are advised to use extra caution especially those in high profile vehicles. Light-weight outdoor objects such as patio furniture and garbage cans should be secured. PECO Gears Up To Respond To Irene's Wrath: Company Activates Entire Emergency Response Organization

As of 1:30 a.m. Sunday, multiple power outages affecting tens of thousands of PECO customers have been reported since Hurricane Irene's arrival to the Philadelphia region. Those numbers include 56,780 Bucks County residents without power. Check PECO's outage map for the latest numbers.  Customers without power should contact PECO at 1-800-841-4141. PECO said the more customers who call to report an outage, the more effectively it can dispatch crews and restore service. The company said its automated telephone system can quickly record an outage and allows their representatives to be available to handle reports of dangerous situations. PECO should be REQUIRED to make their network compatible with home generators. When their power grid goes out, so does your internet, internet phone service, cable and SUMP PUMP! To simply say "don't do it" is irresponsible and drives up insurance costs due to their negligence to keep their power grid up to date. Can PECO spell "Inverters"?
