Snow, Sleet and Rain for Saturday

The National Weather Service is calling for a wintry mix to roll into Southampton early Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southampton in effect from 1 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

A snow storm is expected to blanket the area with 2 to 5 inches of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice.

According to the NWS forecast, snowfall will begin after midnight and continue to fall with varying intensity into Saturday morning. The snow will gradually change to sleet and freezing rain, and as temperatures begin to climb back above freezing again on Saturday the precipitation will turn to rain.

NWS warns motorists to be prepared fro slippery roads and limited visibility when driving on Saturday. Use caution when driving.

This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Northwest wind between 7 and 11 mph. 

Tonight: Snow, mainly after 1am. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. 

Saturday: Snow before 10am, then rain and sleet between 10am and 1pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow after 1pm. High near 36. Northeast wind between 6 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. 

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northeast wind between 6 and 8 mph. 

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 38. East wind between 7 and 9 mph. 

Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
