Weekend Planner for May 11-13

Sample some chocolate, peruse a flea market or take in some live music this Mother's Day weekend.

With some mild weather headed our way this weekend, there's plenty of outdoor activities to check out.

Why go: Join blues harp virtuoso Steve Guyger and the Excellos and friends for an amazing evening of entertainment—some of the finest blues to be heard anywhere.

Why go: Teresa Giudice of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" and her mother will kick off Mother's Day weekend with a meet and greet book signing at Parx Casino. Then sample recipes from "Fabulicious!: Teresa's Italian Family Cookbook."

Cost: Free

 

Where/when: Happy Tymes, 2071 County Line Rd., Warrington, Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon

Why go: Come join us for some family fun to raise money for a great cause! Enjoy a round of mini golf and other fun activities. Try your luck in some of our raffles, including a chance to win 4 One-Day Park Hopper passes valid at the Magic Kingdom® Park, and other Disney attractions.

Cost: $7

 

Where/when: The Moland House, 1641 Old York Rd., Hartsville, Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go:  Susan McLellan Plaisted, a respected and well known food historian, will be at the Moland House to demonstrate how a chocolate beverage was prepared and provide small samples for everyone to try.

Cost: $10

 

Where/when: , 220 S. York Rd., Hatboro, Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Why go: On the second Saturday of every month, downtown Hatboro will come alive with activity, as stores, restaurants and service providers host live music, art and cultural events, all free to the public.

Where/when: , 133 Horsham Rd., Horsham, Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why go: There will be race cars, custom cars, fast motorcycles, custom motorcycles, shop tours, product vendors, door prizes, games and a live band will keep things jumping.

Where/when: Fordhook Farm, 105 New Britain Rd., Doylestown, Friday & Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why go: To help gardeners whip their outdoor space into shape for the planting season, Burpee will host a two-day garden training event at Fordhook Farm, its historic research facility and display gardens.

Where/when: , 116 Richboro Newtown Rd., Newtown, Friday, 7 p.m.

Why go: Performances include bands from both  and , plus Newtown Middle, Richboro Middle and Holland Middle. Jazz bands from three elementary schools – , , and Hillcrest – will also be present.

Where/when: , 5 S. State St. Newtown, Friday, 8 p.m.-midnight

Why go: This intimate, acoustic performance is sure to be one of those, "I remember when I saw those guys…" moments as they get ready to hit the national stage this summer.

Why go: Find some bargains at the Flea Market sponsored by the Historical Society of Bensalem Township. Beverages, breakfast and lunch foods will be available for purchase during the flea market.

Where/when: 1829 Richill Rd., Feasterville Trevose, Saturday 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why go: Shop for great deals on household items and help support a local student’s participation in the People 2 People Student Ambassador program.

Where/when: , 625 Red Lion Rd., Huntingdon Valley, weekdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why go: An exhibition and sale showcases 58 images by members of the Huntingdon Valley Camera Club during library hours.
