Heavy Rains with Possible Flooding Expected

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains are likely in Southampton beginning Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southampton and surrounding areas, set to last through Wednesday night.

The Mount Holly, NJ based weather service is predicting thunderstorms this afternoon that could produce large downpours, resulting in flooding across our area.

This Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and 3am, then a chance of showers after 3am. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Thursday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. East wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. 

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southeast wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Friday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind between 3 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.
