Domestic Dispute Prompts Gunfire on Rick Road

Police said a gun discharged during struggle between a man and his girlfriend at a home on Rick Road Thursday Morning.

Police said gunfire erupted in the township Thursday morning after a resident returned home from an overnight trip and faced off with a jealous lover who was armed with a handgun. 

According to reports, the resident of the 400 block of Rick Road left his home on Wednesday evening with a male friend for trip to Atlantic City.

Police said Nora Garcia, 31, of Philadelphia, stayed at the man's residence while he was at the casinos and continually texted him throughout the evening, accusing him of cheating on her.

A press release issued by the Upper Southampton Police Department detailed the following chain of events, subsequent to the man's arrival at this home: the man arrived home just before 11 a.m. on Thursday when Garcia confronted him and slapped him across the face. The man continued to enter his home when Garcia pointed a handgun at him. Observing the laser sight from the handgun pointed at him, the man attempted to disarm Garcia.

Police said during the struggle the handgun was discharged and a single round was fired into the ceiling. No one was shot or injured by the handgun.

According to police the resident eventually gained control of the handgun and Garcia left the residence. Garcia later responded to the Upper Southampton Township Police Department, where it was discovered that she was in possession of several counterfeit US identification documents.

Garcia was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Mark Douple on charges of Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Garcia was detained in Bucks County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department (ICE), office in Miami, Fla. later filed a detainer for Garcia for illegal immigration.
