Driver Hits Bicyclist on Maple Avenue

Police are searching for the driver of a silver Cadillac who was involved in an accident on Maple Avenue near Hogeland Road Tuesday afternoon.

Police are asking for help in identifying the driver of a car involved in a traffic accident with a bicycle on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Maple Avenue near Hogeland Road, when a newer model silver Cadillac with a slanted trunk collided with a cyclist, according to Upper Southampton Police Chief Ron MacPherson.

MacPherson said the driver did stop and attempt to render aid following the accident, but was told by the cyclist that he didn't want to file a report and then both left the scene. It was only when the cyclist was located further up the road from the accident that police were contacted.
