The long-standing tradition that pits classmate against classmate at William Tennent High School is underway.
The academic portion of the school's Black and White Night events kicked off Wednesday.
During the Black and White competition, the student body is divided into two teams, based upon the first initial of their last name. The black team is made up of students with the last names A through K while the white team is made up of students with the last names L through Z.
The teams compete in various events over the course of three days. The first day consists of academic events, day two is focused on aquatic events and the last night of competition features gym-based events.
This year the Black Royals are taking on the White Legends.
After the first round of competition, the White Legends are leading the Black Royals by a score of 73 to 60.
Thursday brings the aquatic events. Pool Night is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Doors open for seating at 5:30 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
