Bucks County Senior Games Shuffle Through Southampton

Although the weather may have put a damper on the offering of events, several seniors made their way out to participate in the Bucks County Senior Games Tuesday.

Despite a low turnout, the events scheduled for Bucks County Senior Games were in full swing at the Tuesday morning.

Organizers said less than half of the participants who registered for the events scheduled for Tuesday actually made it out due to the inclement weather.

However, a little bit of rain didn't keep Jim Kilmer of Southampton from participating in the day's events.

"I've been coming out every year for the past 10 years," said Kilmer.

Kilmer doesn't live too far from the community center, so the weather wasn't a deterrent for him

"Today is usually my favorite day, with all of the outdoor activities," he said. "Unfortunately, it doesn't look like most of them will be happening."

There was still plenty of fun to be had inside Tuesday morning, with some basketball-related competitions and a few shuffleboard matches taking place.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Bucks County Senior Games.

Tuesday's events conclude the activity portion of the games, which have taken place at different locations throughout the county over the course of the past week.

The games wind down Wednesday with an awards luncheon at Twining Village in Holland and the activities conclude Friday and Saturday, with an Active Aging Expo at The Fuge in Warminster.
