Rotary Basketball Tournament Begins Wednesday

Huntingdon Valley/Southampton Rotary Club will hold its annual Regional Charity Basketball Tournament this week, with proceeds to help support local and international Rotary Club initiatives.

The Rotary Club of Huntingdon Valley/Southampton and Lower Moreland High School are running their annual Regional Holiday Charity Basketball Tournament this week. 

Boys and girls varsity basketball teams from several area high schools will compete over two days to determine boys and girls team champions.  Trophies and medals will be awarded to the champion teams. Refreshments will be available for purchase. 

The competition will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28 and Thursday Dec. 29 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Lower Moreland High School.

“Over the years, we have received great support for this tournament from the fans, parents, and students of the participating schools," said Huntingdon Valley/Southampton Rotary Club President Evan Fineman. “We look forward to their continued support this year.”

Participating schools include: Calvary Christian, Central Bucks West, Holy Cross, Lower Moreland, Morrisville, Upper Merion, and Harry S. Truman High School.

Proceeds will be designated for various programs and organizations consistent with Rotary’s community service objectives, including Rotary International’s Polio Eradication Program, Rotary youth leadership camp, high school Student of the Month awards, college scholarships, middle school and high school Interact Service Clubs, Rotary’s Annual Community “Fish-a-long” children’s fishing tournament, and the club’s annual holiday gift campaign for disadvantaged children.
